Apprenticeships – are yours gender segregated? Are young people from ethnic minority backgrounds under-represented?

Many occupational frameworks within the Apprenticeship programme are strongly gender segregated, and young people from ethnic minority backgrounds are under-represented in general on Apprenticeship frameworks. How do your apprenticeship programmes shape up?
Research funded by the TUC looked to provide detailed insight about this under-representation, including decision-making by young people and employer practices. The report explores the nature of the barriers encountered by different groups and draws together the evidence on what is effective in overcoming these barriers.
