BBC amends HR policy following suicide of employee

The BBC has made changes to its HR policy on bullying and harassment in the wake of its apology to the family of an employee who committed suicide following bullying accusations. Journalist Russell Joslin took his own life after making complaints of bullying and harassment. A BBC-commissioned report on the case was published in April 2013. The report highlighted a number of shortcomings, including a workplace culture that made it more difficult for Russell to raise concerns. In response to the report, the BBC have implemented a range of actions including establishing a confidential helpline, reviewing its support services and providing training for managers.
