Employment tribunal statistics

The Ministry of Justice has published its report on employment tribunals and discrimination compensation awards. The report covers the period April 2011 to March 2012.
The report shows that the median (middle value) and highest awards for different protected characteristics were:
- Sexual orientation discrimination, median £13,505, highest £27,473
- Disability discrimination, median £8,928, highest £390,871
- Gender discrimination, median £6,746, highest £89,700)
- Age discrimination, median £6,065, highest £144,100
- Race discrimination, median £5,256, highest £4,445,023 (in Michalak v Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust ET/1810815/08)
- Religion or belief discrimination, median £4,267, highest £59,522
