Equality through procurement

ECU has published a resource looking at embedding equality through the procurement process in colleges and universities. This guidance breaks down the procurement process step-by-step, providing practical guidance, ideas and case studies at each stage.

This guide has been developed with assistance from equality and diversity practitioners from a range of institutions.

In this age of austerity, there are less ‘capital builds’ and large scale financial projects being undertaken, but when they do take place, it is important that equality is embedded in the process. I have found that sometimes colleges, for example, ‘tag’ equality at the end of the process, rather than thinking about it from the start, and embedding through the process. The guide has a useful toolkit that will help you to do this.
