Supporting staff and students who are transitioning

Do you know how to support a student or member of staff who is undergoing gender reassignment? The Equality Challenge Unit has recently published practical step-by-step guidance.
The step-by-step guide will be useful for any staff member who will need to directly support a trans member of staff or student. It covers initial meetings, developing an action plan, managing the reactions of others and supporting changes in gender presentation. Although written for the HE sector, the principles in this guide are just as relevant to the learning and skills sector.
The guide is supported by case studies:
- The professional and support staff member experience: Emma's story
- The academic staff member experience: Rachel's story
- The student experience: Lily's story
