Do your staff know what is meant by caste discrimination? The Equality and Human Rights Commission has published research reports into issues surrounding caste in Britain, to inform a new statutory law prohibiting discrimination on the grounds of caste. The Commission has said that discrimination against an individual because of caste in sectors such as education cannot be tolerated.
The Immigration Bill announced on 10 October 2013 aims to make it more difficult for migrants to stay in the UK where they have no legal right to do so. Key points to consider include right-to-work checks and higher penalties for employing an illegal migrant.
Many occupational frameworks within the Apprenticeship programme are strongly gender segregated, and young people from ethnic minority backgrounds are under-represented in general on Apprenticeship frameworks. How do your apprenticeship programmes shape up?
In the last few decades, significant progress has been made in addressing racism – more learners from ethnic minority backgrounds are progressing to higher education, for example. However, disproportionate numbers of young people from these backgrounds are unemployed and underemployed. Isn’t this a contradiction?
